To: Tobias M. Wagner
Dear Tobias,
Having had some experience with the 'open' meetings, I can well understand you feeling uncomfortable with them.
I will see what I can find out about "the Stuttgart area" and "any sound gatherings there".
As to the "writings of CAC, CHM and JND" being "available in German", I believe that there are at least some. I will check.
As to the "little book called 'Help for the Little Ones', by ALCS, published by Stow Hill", I will also do some checking.
Yes, I believe that those "usually called by others 'Alte Versammlung' (Old Assembly)" are the so-called 'Lowe-Continental' group.
It may take a little while to check out all the matters mentioned, but I'll let you know as I receive any information.
With brotherly greetings to you and your wife and your companions, in our Lord Jesus, Gordon.
To: Tobias Wagner
Dear brother, I was glad to read of some of the ministry you found helpful. I too have found these ministries very instructive.
My father-in-law now for 23 years has been publishing a monthly in
German called 'Neues und Altes' in which he has translated some of all of the authors you mention, plus many other scripturally sound authors.
Your brother and sister in Christ,
Daniel and Kerstin Soukoreff.

Dear Gordon Rainbow,
I hope you will have a blessed meeting around the Lord's table tomorrow.
May He be pleased and honoured.
With love in our Lord Jesus, Tobias Wagner.
From: Tobias Wagner
Dear Gordon Rainbow, The Father "sent His Son into the world", John 3: 17. Why does it not indicate that there was a Father-Son relationship before the Father sent Him into the world? Does it not imply that Christ was Son before He was sent forth (John 3: 17, Galatians 4: 4; 1 John 4: 9)?
Another question: Arthur G. Brown writes in his letter at February 29, 1972:
Many challenging issues are raised and cause one to study the Scriptures.

Dear Tobias,
Thanks for your reply, and I hope you are now well.
You have proved with patient and unbiased inquiry that "when he is come, the Spirit of truth, he shall guide you into all the truth", John 16: 13.
I'm very interested in how you and your wife, and the other contacts you mentioned earlier, get on meeting together. You are in our household prayers and news from time to time will be most welcome.

Dear Gordon,
Yes, we are now well. You wrote that you are "very interested in how you and your wife, and the other contacts you mentioned earlier, get on meeting together" and "news from time to time will be most welcome." Thanks for your sincere interest.
Presently we are in Germany, but at the end of January we will be back in South Africa.
We still hope and pray that there are some mature brethren in Cape Town, who might join us or whom we might join.
So far we only meet for the breaking of bread but my desire is also to have some time of teaching and prayer.
I regret that I have nobody here in Germany – except my wife – with whom I could share my views on the Lord's sonship.
As I visited some "churches" here in Germany I was shocked about the low state of the "church", that Christendom is fallen, corrupt, and often wicked.
You write "You are in our household prayers". Thank you very much, we deeply appreciate your prayers.
Otherwise we have exceedingly much reason to be thankful to the Lord. God-willing, Joshua our 17 month old son will have a brother or sister in late April. Petra, my wife is well so far and the Lord has kept her from any problems.
With much love in our Lord Jesus,
Your brother in Christ, Tobias Wagner.

Dear Gordon,
You are indeed correct that I was Alex Walker, of Edinburgh, that you wrote to in 1972.
After our parting with the Renton Brethren in 1972 we continued with others who had left the Taylor 'camp' until 1974.
We came out here – Auckland – for family reaons last year; and because of much confusion in the Brethren/church scene remember the Lord – sometimes with others – in our home.
We have retained a flat in Edinburgh to which we hope to return at the beginning of June – coming back here, God willing, at the beginning of October.
I shall take a note of the information contained in your email and hopefully use it in due course.

Napoleon Noel vol. 1, "The History of the Brethren" p. 247 at the bottom says:
"Collected Writings of J.N.D. vol 1 contains his lengthy replies to such prominent men as Mr. Auguste Rochat and Mr. François Olivier of Vaud, is full of what he so early taught in Switzerland concerning the Church of God on earth, of which Christ is the Head in heaven."
To: Dorothy Weeks
Dear Dorothy,
First, we agree, JND's books have a very confusing and unfortunate numbering
system. Volume 1 of the Collected Writings is also known as Ecclesiastical
Volume 1. This is the one Noel would be referring to.
Second, there is a list of JND's correspondents available from STEM Publishing.
As to your third question, it would hardly be possible to say how these men
differed from JND, neither of us has made a study of their views. But it
should be possible to discern the differences if any from what JND wrote. As
for JND being the cause of problems in Switzerland, I do not know the
answer. I suppose the answer would largely depend on to whom the question
was asked!
We look forward to hearing form you again.
Yours in the Lord Jesus, Jeff.
