• I have lived in Australia since the mid sixties.

• I did my National Service Training at Wrexham before being stationed at Sheffield-on-Lodden, Basingstoke, until 1956.

I am continuing my researches into the lives of Edward Dennett 1831-1914, William Reid 1822-1881 and C. H. Mackintosh 1820-1896.

• There is a dearth of info regarding these men and I would welcome contact with anyone who has information or copies of letters, etc.

• Another early author that has been brought to my attention is Edward Crowley [died 1887] and if you have any of his books or information about him and his family I would also be most obliged.

Dear Gordon,
I stumbled across your site a few weeks ago and have been finding it very interesting. I am unfamilar with EB.

I was brought up in a Christian home on the Canadian prairies. My parents were in fellowship in what your site would describe as a closed brethren gospel hall.

• The clarion call of the gospel was preached with simplicity and power – an increasingly rare thing in these last days.

• I sat under conviction through many meeting as a child growing up, but not until I was late in my forties was I brought to feel the weight of my sin and the hopelessness and helplessness of my situation
  • that God thru the Holy Spirit revealed the gift of eternal through Jesus Christ. Romans 6: 23.

JND and C. H. Mackintosh were familiar names to me.

• I know there are assemblies in the Toronto area of the same doctrinal stand as we were and am surprised that you are not familiar with them or fellowship with them.

A question: I get the sense that infant baptism is consistent with your belief. Am I correct? If so what scriptures do you base this on?

• This came up at a Bible study last week with considerable discussion. I look forward to your answer.

I can't tell you how much encouragement and confirmation I've received from your site.

• For several years I've questioned the Biblical foundation of many of the traditional and contemporary practices of the Church.

• I believe the path I'm on is one our Lord is leading me down.

• After reading Mr. Darby's account of how the Lord showed him the same things He's shown me, I became convinced.

• The only thing that has made me doubt is the solitude I feel in these convictions. I see now that I am not alone, nor am I crazy.

Thank you for your page. My family suffered through the Exclusive Brethren, greatly. Dad bought the Minister off with various donations and gifts and they finaly married him to a so called converted escort girl. Converted for his $20,000 ADU. Her adoptive father told me that she could marry a man of her choice after Albert died.The deceiver was deceived and she lost almost everything.

One happy memory was to play the piano for the group in home meetings, that way they got me there. I'm glad I never joined. Jesus is Lord.

To see people suffer under J.Taylor Jnr was horrific, both at work and at home. The sins of the flesh were horrific and the excuses made terrible.

Praise God I never new I was upset till now. Forgive me Lord for taking such upset.

I am responsible for the website of Chicago Bibles & Books, and would like to know if I may use on our site the biographical information on C. A. Coates that is provided in your site, along with one of the pictures of him.

We are in the process of doing a major upgrade to the site and hope to include brief biographies of a number of the Lord's servants from the past.

• I don't know of any other source for such information on Coates.

• I would need to adapt the information, and of course I would be happy to provide the appropriate reference to your site.

As for our background, we are owned by the church in Chicago, which was raised up through the ministry of Watchman Nee and Witness Lee.
