Dear Gordon and Betty,
Greetings after many years. I haven't time right now to say much more than hello.
My wife Joyce and I have been out now for two years. I pointed out privately to a brother how we have departed from the truth recovered in JND's time and was shut up immediately and withdrawn from in a month. Thank the Lord for His mercy.
We now live a much happier and fuller life for the Lord. At the moment just seven of us breaking bread here in London but we have much fellowship with other Christians in missionary work especially.
We now support a number of missionaries and are paying the air time for a weekly gospel radio broadcast in West Africa. We also are involved in water treatment for the missionary/relief organization Samaritan's Purse. I was in the water treatment field years ago and am now developing equipment for third world applications.
We lost three married children still in the PB fellowship and nine grandchildren. We have one 18 year old son still with us who is going on happy in the Lord. My mother lives with us, in full agreement with our position. My father is with the Lord about 9 years.

Dear Gordon,
How can I not sign your Guestbook? The last entry published is from my
father – he is now surfing ahead of me and found you first!
I guess I am one of the 'Young People' to whom you refer. Thanks – you are obviously a gentleman and a scholar!
- Being born in 1954, I have no memory of Brethren doctrine prior to the 60's and do not recall any other time other than that when a Universal Lead existed.
- Like many who lived through the spiritually lean years, I left as a teenager in 1972 and did not have a personal relationship with the Lord Jesus.
- I knew the bible; I could spout doctrine – but I had no real joy or certain knowledge of salvation.
After a long circuitous route, I now live in Vermont, USA and am married to Sallie, a busy Birthing Center R.N. I work as a freelance software programmer, designing databases and websites. Sallie and I attend a local Christian and Missionary Alliance church where we are both receiving love, sound spiritual food and oodles of encouragement.
On December 13th, 1998, Sallie and I were both baptized by full immersion in a local swimming pool.
- In a way, this very recent act marked an end to my damaged roots as a member of the so-called 'Exclusive Brethren'.
- The infant 'dedication' ceremony that was performed during the first week after my birth had no personal significance – last week, that was put right!
But one shining legacy that I take with me from 'Brethren Days' is the special understanding that the Lords' Supper represented each Lords Day morning.
- Although the 6:00 a.m. edict was obviously invented by someone who
equally hated and did not understand teenagers(!),
- the weekly one hour communion service was unique, special and is a treasure that I shall do my best to share with others as I continue my walk.
Congratulations on your site – I hope the hard work and thought that has gone into it will represent but a small investment toward a wonderful reward!
- Keep those curtains furled back – those of us with darkness in our past need all the light we can get.

Thanks for the email of last Tuesday. I can't remember the correspondence of which you write – was it me or Jan Taylor with whom you corresponded. I took on the editorship of Youthful Days in 1994, after Jan was taken to be with the Lord.
FDW was taken home earlier this year, I think around February.
I am not sure who else you would have known from past times, if you mention a few names maybe I can help but I haven't kept up with FDW's generation; (I was after all a boy in 1970).

How we have let the Lord down!
However in His mercy many have been saved as brands plucked from the burning. God in His goodness gave much to the Assembly in the 1800's with the emphasis on the Lord's coming and the Head in Heaven. This is as true now as it was then (except that His coming is even nearer!
JND stressed separation from evil was God's principle of unity. That was not in establishing a system of man's organisation here. What became of that was another system from which we are exhorted to withdraw.
Thank God that there are so many still seeking to call on the Lord out of a pure heart! Scattered, weak, yet cast on the Holy Spirit for guidance and on our Lord Jesus for strength.

Frankly, generally speaking, I am not enamoured with the practice of displaying the Lord's interests on a publicly accessed facility.
Having been introduced to your website, however, I am pleased to obtain from it details of the life of FER and other historical interest;
- which is of positive help in repudiating the still widely found critics of those who so faithfully ministered the truth.
- There seem to be few in this present day who really value this truth which has been recovered at such cost and devotion.
It would appear that all the prophetic utterances of JND, FER and CAC as to the eventual demise of 'Brethren' have so sadly fulfilled to such a degree that even though they said such things, if they were able to return and see the devastation, would be shocked beyond words.
One is so thankful that 'My word and My Spirit remain among you' whatever the day and
- the path is still clear for the exercised soul to depart from evil (not just the EB System) and to pursue … calling on the Lord out of a pure heart.
