Dear Karl and Peggy,
You have been through the kind of traumatic experience with which many will identify.

Having stepped out in faith you can be sure that the Lord is ready to stand by you, and that the Spirit is ready to "guide you into all the truth", John 16:13.

Be patient but alert as you wait on the Lord. In faith and love carry your children with you in your exercises.

Keep us informed of how you are getting on.

With love in the Lord Jesus to you all, Gordon.

Dear Karl and Peggy,
We have been wondering how you are all getting on after your move in faith, trusting Him that you will be preserved. See 1 Thess. 3:1-10.

So if the Lord will, I hope to call you again this Lord's Day around 6:00 pm EDT as previously. If this is not convenient please let me know.

A very fine letter from Ashley cheered our hearts, and the hearts of others here and elsewhere who have been praying for you.

With love in our Lord Jesus to all the family,

Gordon and Betty.

Hello dear Gordon and Betty …
Was nice to receive your email and offer to phone us this Sunday. Yes! We'd love to be able to speak with you again and 6:00 EDT sounds just great. We'll be waiting for your call.

Karl and I have read several of the "Studies" that you have posted on your web site and have enjoyed them very much! We just finished printing out the last of the studies and now have hard copies of them all.

As a family study, we went over "The Inspiration of the Scriptures" which was very good as well.

We look forward to reading additional studies from your web site and will continue to read them as they become available.

I also sent for a catalog mentioned in one of the guest entries on your site.

Hope that all is well with you both. We're looking forward to talking with you on the Lord's Day.

With love to you both in our Lord Jesus, Peggy and Karl.

Hi Gordon …
Karl and I just wrote a brief message to Daniel and when we went to send it, it came up "unknown address". Do you have Daniel's email address so that we may contact him?

Was so good to talk with you again this evening. It's like I told Karl when we got off the phone, you're like a cold glass of water on a hot summer day!

Have a good evening.

With love in Christ … Peggy & Karl.

Good day Gordon … After our conversation last night, I couldn't wait to get on your web site to look up some of the articles that you had mentioned.

There were many other points made in Mackintosh's article that I was able to closely identify with, so many in fact, that I ended up highlighting about 2/3 of the article!

In addition to the above mentioned articles, I also read Andrew Robertson's "Decline & Departure" and, like you,

I printed out the letter you wrote which followed Andrew Robertson's article.

As difficult as everything has been, (and continues to be), I am convinced that we have done the right thing by leaving the assembly we were involved in.

Well, better go for now. Thank you again for phoning us last night. Your loving ways and words of encouragement are more of a blessing than you can imagine.

Please greet Betty for us.

Love in Christ, Peggy.

Hello dearest brother Gordon …
Things here are going well. We continue to have study at our home with just the 4 of us and it's been truly a time of blessing.

This weekend, Karl, the girls and I are going to visit my saved sister and bro-in-law in Bemidji, MN.

Well, better get going. Karl and the girls have the van all loaded up and are ready to go. I hope you and Betty are doing well and that you enjoy a nice weekend together.

Talk to you soon.

Affectionately in the Lord Jesus … Peggy.

Dear Peggy,
I'm sorry we won't all be able to speak together this Lord's Day – it certainly has come to mean a great deal to me –

May the Lord bless your service of love in visiting Susie and Frank. Please let us know how you get on.

Dearest brother Gordon...
Karl and I have been debating whether or not we should take the girls to go to see a speaker from the Creation Science Institute (have you heard of this?) this Lord's Day.

We had a very nice time with my sister, Susie, and her husband, Frank last weekend.

Anyway, they all had a great deal of questions and although they didn't always like what we had to say, they were unable to support their methods of "attending church" with what the Scriptures had to say.

Susie and Frank have been seriously considering moving to Pelican Rapids so that we can be closer to each other.

Greg, my other brother-in-law, was going to speak to his pastor on Sunday following the service about why they didn't meet in accordance with New Testiment principles at their church.

Please great Betty for us and have a good rest of the week.

With love in our Lord Jesus Christ ... Peggy

P.S. When we were in Bemidji last weekend, Sue & Frank's pastor made mention of Sir Rbt. Anderson and what a tremendous teacher he was. Although I've heard of this man and have read some of his teachings, I'm not at all familiar with his background. Was he one of the "Brethren" from earlier years?

Dear Karl and Peggy,
Many thanks for your e-mail. "As cold waters to a thirsty soul, so is good news from a far country", Prov. 25: 25.

News of your visit and conversations with your relatives is very encouraging. Far better than what you might have done, and we pray that real results will come form these contacts.

As to Sir Rbt. Anderson. I have not read any of his writings but understand he was connected with "open" meetings.

I have surface mailed some items which I hope will be helpful:

Please let me know when they arrive. I hope you enjoy them.

Hello dear Gordon...
Thank you so much for the encouraging email you sent earlier.

We haven't decided yet whether or not we'll plan to attend the CSI conference while we're gone.

Karl, the girls, and I see ourselves as being "in" the world, but not "of" the world more and more each passing day.

We're so looking forward to receiving the information you're sending us in the mail.

I thank God for you Gordon and your willingness and obedience in allowing the Lord to use you as a tool to help our family draw closer to Him. Again, I must say that you are truly a gift from God!

We'll try to be home on the Lord's Day by 6:00 EDT to receive your call. God willing, we'll make it home by then and we'll be able to have another good conversation with you then.

Please greet the various brothers and sisters in Christ for us who have lovingly bowed their heads in prayer for this family.

With love and affection in our Lord Jesus Christ ...

Peggy.

Dear Karl and Peggy,
It was encouraging and comforting to be able to speak with you again yesterday and to learn how you are responding to the Scriptures.

It is good to know that you are learning that you will not receive the help you need in situations which merely cater – and often unscripturally so – to basic matters alone.

As we discussed, though the truths of how we should gather collectively are very important they are not the final objective.

With our love to you all, Karl, Peggy, Ashley and Rachel, in the Lord Jesus,

Dear Peggy,
A very encouraging message came from Karl today with his current exercises. It was real good to hear from him.

We expect to have two readings starting at 1:30 p.m., followed by dinner, on Saturday. We have been having such "special" meetings 3-4 times a year.

I am getting ready some duplicate books to send to you and will let you know when they are on their way.

Looking forward to our "regular" call on the Lord's Day.

From: Karl Paluga
Wed, 3 Nov 1999

Dear Gordon,
I want to thank you for your encouraging and sometimes convicting words.

The Lord Jesus has been more firm with us lately. It appears that He wants us to "grow in grace, and in the knowledge of [Him] our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ", 2 Peter 3: 18, and to move on from the birth truths of the word to growth truths of the word.

The Lord Jesus has been showing us ourselves and our need to agree with Him that there is only one solution to the problem of the flesh – His finished work of Calvary.

The Father's work in me sometimes seems to be a great paradox, life out of death, the living, those in Christ are delivered unto death.

And I thank the Lord Jesus that He is using you in His processing of me! Amen!

Resting in Him, Karl Paluga.

Dear Gordon,
I am writing you this morning to praise God, our Father and His Son, for delivering Peggy from death yesterday. She had an extreme allergic reaction to penicillin, where she could not breath very well because of a restricted windpipe.

Peggy called me at work yesterday after taking her medicine and while having the allergic reaction to it, saying "I can't breathe. What should I do?".

Then I prayed and called back to see what was happening. Rachel told me that the paramedics had arrived and I could her them in the background asking Peggy questions to keep her alert and from fainting so she would keep breathing. I said goodbye to Rachel.

At that point I tried to call a friend, to get a ride home, but he did not answer. So, then I thought that I should go talk to the secretary, thinking that she might be able to give me a ride.

When I got home the paramedics had by that time stabilized Peggy and transported her to the hospital, where the doctor was able to begin treating her to reverse the allergic reaction. Which he did. Praise the Lord!

Well that is where we are at now. The girls and I are going to pick her up now.

Resting in Him and His Grace and Mercy, Karl.

To: Karl and Peggy Paluga

Dear Karl and Peggy,
What a shock to hear, from you Karl, of Peggy's extreme penicillin reaction – but what a cause of joy and thanksgiving to learn how God has been over all and preserved her to you and the girls – and to us!

How good is the God we adore,
Our faithful unchangeable Friend,
Whose love is as great as His power,
And knows neither measure nor end.

We will be praying especially for Peggy, and all of you – hoping we will still be able to speak together on the Lord's Day.

Love in our Lord Jesus to you all,
and especially to you Peggy,

Gordon and Betty.

Note: I phoned early Thursday evening and spoke to Peggy for a few minutes. She was quite tired but in good spirits. She must now wear a Medic-Alert bracelet as the doctor says another penicillin reaction could be fatal.

Dear Peggy,
By the way, I don't know whether —— actually said he left "christendom", but to do that would be apostasy.

I enjoyed our conversation on baptism and trust this important matter is becoming clearer to Karl and you.

We got into the subject so quickly that I didn't get to ask how you are feeling after the penicillin reaction. By the conversation and your e-mail it seems you are reasonably reovered. But let me know.

I'm still getting some books ready to send but it may be a few days yet.

I forgot to tell you that yesterday (Monday) Marian (Mrs. Roy) Devenish who is 82 and very frail began 4 weeks of radiation therapy for cancer of the tongue.

Thank you for your inquiry about my health and , yes, I am feeling much stronger these days.

We continue to pray for Marian and her husband Roy as they presently are having to endure this difficult time in Marian's life.

It is my prayer that someday, I will become more like you people when it comes to edification of the body. I'm still such a babe in that respect!

We printed the paper on baptism from your site and Karl has been reading it every evening since. He refuses to talk with me about it until he's read it in its entirity. (This might take awhile as it's 38 pages.)

With lots of love and affection in Christ to you and Betty...

As usual, we're looking forward to our phone conversation tomorrow evening with you. Karl finished reading that article on baptism and I'm starting it tonight. (Hopefully, I'll finish reading it by the time we call you tomorrow night so we can all discuss it together.)

I experienced much joy as a result of a telephone conversation I had with my sister, Jan. She's newly saved and the Lord is working wonders in her life.

Dear brother Gordon,
It is truly wonderful to be brothers in Christ and sons of God, part of the Father's family of saints – a gift to His Son, our Lord Jesus Christ the Lord of Glory, who is our life and our service.

Thank you for the books and tracts. My thanks to Roy and Marian too (I hope that their situation has improved)! They hold untold treasures concerning the precious things of our Lord Jesus.

As I was going through them I found a tract on baptism. It is composed of a series of letters that were sent over a three year period. And I have just finished reading it. It was full of light, from the scriptures, concerning baptism.

Brotherly love in Christ, Karl.

Dear Gordon...
Having just finished reading J.B. Stoney's biography, I can only sit in awe! What a blessed account his daughter has given us of what abiding in glory truly is!

Indeed, this writing has shed a great deal of light on my present exercises. Several things that he said spoke eons to me including the following...

Thank you for directing me to this writing.

What a joy for his daughter to "witness" the Lord's ongoing work in her very father! To actually witness one being changed from one degree of glory to another can only be described as astounding! I marvelled at her words...

Clearly, she was blessed to witness a tremendous work of God that very few of us will ever see, let alone, personally experience in this lifetime (although every one of us is capable of entering into the glory of God that Mr. Stoney found such joy in while in his final days here on earth.)

It is my prayer that, one day, we too, shall gain entrance into the holiest knowing the mind of God that Mr. Stoney spoke of.

Resting in Him... Peggy.

Dear Gordon and Betty,
I am grateful for our phone conversation last night and for your loving and encouraging letter. And for your prayers. God will answer them in His time as we wait on Him.

I have been thinking of 2 Timothy 2, "Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity … If a man therefore purge [separate] himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master's use, and prepared unto every good work", 2 Tim. 2: 19,21.

And I have been thinking of what follows in 2 Timothy 3, once a believer is committed to the Lord Jesus' interests, His Supper, the assembly, and the worship of God in spirit and truth.

Joseph and his bride are a figure of Christ and His assembly, those that are faithful to the Lord, will suffer as He suffered, but "If we suffer, we shall also reign with Him", 2 Tim. 2: 12.

Affectionately your brother in Christ, Karl.

Isolation, Testing, and Faith in our Lord Jesus Christ

Dear Phil,
Greetings in the Lord Jesus from Karl Paluga and family – my wife Peggy and daughters Ashley, age 16, and Rachel, age 13.

It seems that your situation was a lot like ours is now, isolated – just my house and my wife's sister Jan, who is all alone 240 miles from us, living with an unbelieving husband

Gordon Rainbow has been a great comfort to both myself and my wife. And we were greatly encouraged, by the brethren, when we were in Toronto in May.

I know by reading your correspondence with Gordon that you are extremely busy, but if time and circumstances allow I would greatly appreciate correspondence with you and your house.

Walking Together with Christ

Dear Phil,
Thank you for sharing with us the way the Lord has led you and your house. Greet your family for me.

I too believe that the light that has been given to us, by God, should be shared with others; with anyone that shows an interest, that has a need, that is seeking to know God,

In our house the Lord Jesus has been showing us that we need to focus on Him and the love that He has expressed toward us.

And I pray the God will bring us together with other believers that we can worship with, as a company that desires to worship God in Spirit and in truth –

Love in Christ to you and yours, Karl Paluga.

We profited from the meetings and from the time that we spent with Tim and Linda Oberg in their home. Peggy and the girls also got acquainted with some of the other sisters (besides Linda and Josie Oberg). Peggy was especially impressed with Paetra, Kevin Oberg's wife.

I am glad for the Lord Jesus' provision of this opportunity to be exercised amongst His brethren since

I pray that the Holy Spirit will bring us into a greater understanding of the Lord Jesus' body,

Greetings dearest Gordon and Betty!
It was so good to hear your voice again the other night, Gordon, and be able to speak about the Lord and His things with a fellow believer who has refused to compromise truth in, what we truly see are, "dark days" in terms of the present state of the church!

Yesterday, Karl received an email from Jeff which encouraged us both greatly. In his email, he spoke of moving on, he and his wife, in spite of now having to continue doing so alone. How well we know this ourselves! It is our hope that we may be of some encouragement to them as they continue on their journey.

Please greet dear Betty for me. Tell her that I think of her often and cherish the time we were able to spend together alone in her kitchen discussing our Lord and the unique struggles one encounters in being christian women. Indeed, her words were "cold water to a thirsty soul"!

Greetings my dear Brother & Sister in Christ.
I pray that this message will find you all well & continuing to grow in the grace & knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ!

As an update, we are elated to report that Ashley (our eldest daughter, & her precious husband, Jason), have given us two precious, precious grandchildren. Benji is 2 and Alivia Anna is 4 months old.

As for Karl & Me, our walk with the Lord has become much more personal in the past years. We have come to realize that HE, alone, is our sustenance here & we look to HIM alone, for spiritual nourishment. In the past, we felt it was critical to observe various "ordinances" in order to have communion with God. Now, we know that it's all about HIM & that if we simply rest in His finished work (just as Mary sat at His feet in order that she may "know" Him), He will reveal Himself to us in a more real way on a day-to-day basis. Enough with trying to please God with our various forms of "work" right Martha?.

We pray that you are all doing well & that we will someday soon (perhaps tonight!) meet one another in the air as we go HOME to meet our precious Lord in the air! Until then...we continue to rest in Him.

We love you dearest Gordon & Betty & are convinced that your presence in our life, however brief it may have been, was clearly from the Lord. You're in our thoughts & prayers often & we can't help but know, that we're in yours as well.

We love you both dearly in Christ. Peggy (& Karl too!)

We do see the Ngs from time to time. In fact they took us out for Gordon's birthday -- 79 on November 11 -- on Lord's Day. Jeremy is 17 and looking forward to University next year; Rachel is 14 and just started high school. We concerned as to their spiritual growth.

The early contacts with you are well remembered, especially the way the Lord came into your circumstances.

Greetings in Christ to you both, and to Ashley and Rachel and their families.

Affectionately in our Lord Jesus, Gordon and Betty.

Your guest entries and messages will show that
