I am trying to trace a former classmate who went by the name of Elaine Pittock and attended Bullerswood Grammar School in Chislehurst, Kent from 1974-79. I believe that she lived in the Bromley area and was a member of the Brethren but no one seems to know what became of her.

A reunion of our year was held last year and a good number of our form attended. We decided to hold a class reunion this year and Elaine is one of the few that remain to be traced.

If anyone knows Elaine or knows where she is I would be grateful if she could contact me – even if she has no wish to attend a reunion – just so that I can stop searching.

Dear Gordon,
Thank you for you kind words about mother. They were much appreciated.

The purpose of my email is to inform you that Phil has been receiving "scam emails". These offer what appears to be fantastic returns for very little effort. The only thing that you are required to give is details of your bank account (so that the money that you are helping to get out of the country can be paid to you), telephone and fax numbers and your address.

The Metropolitan Police estimate the ones orginating from Nigeria are costing this country approximately £150 million a year. I have passed all mine to the authorities.

Unfortunately we know that because these are addressed to Phil at my e mail address, they are gathring details either from your web site or that of Dick Wyman. I know that there is little that you can do to stop people gleaning this info, but if you could warn fellow guests to your pages, so that they are aware. Also if you publish a warning it may make these people aware that the authorities in this country are taking this seriously as are the authorities in Nigeria and other African states.

Best wishes, Jackie Kerkham.

Note: I have thanked Jackie for notifying me and posted a 'Bulletin' on 'Site News' linked to Jackie's email. GAR

A year or two ago, I saw a television documentary about a group that called itself "The Brethren." The story was about one mother's search for her (adult) son who left home in the middle of the night with a member of this group. The group was noted for its nomadic ways and austere living.

Can you tell me more? Or do I have your group confused with the other? Perhaps I am looking for the "Exclusive Brethren?"

Dear Gordon,
I am interested in your opinion as to whether it is permissible to have an unbeliever attend the breaking of bread meeting, that is to be in the same room as believers.

Dear Gordon,
Many thanks for your e-mail. I have always thought I was a 'Christian', but felt that the Anglican Church had somehow lost it's way. It seemed to take out the convenient bits of scripture, but 'ignore' other parts that were not easy listening, or 'politically correct'.

Hope we can keep in touch, Yours in the Lord, Juliet.

I have been aware of the "Laodicean" state of the church, referring to the regenerated ones by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Which is greater? To be feeding on the Living Bread? or to be partaking of the emblems which represents that Bread?

Do you have an E-mail address or other information about Dick Gorgas, a ministering member of the E.B. in New Jersey in the '50's and who subsequently, I think, became affiliated with the Tunbridge Wells group in the U.S.

Thanks, A.R.

— alerted me to the query of Al Raine of Sarasota FL as to my present location. I have responded to his email address and hope it is the first step to reestablishing contact with someone I knew in high school and college days.

He mentions my having been with EB and now with TW brethren. The latter part of the information is correct, in a sense, but I would like to clarify the first part.

Greetings in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. I am looking for good ministry on the 'Feasts of Jehovah', particularly on the 'Passover'. Any help would be appreciated.

Really excellent site. Very sound ministry. Praise the Lord.

Grace and Peace –
What a wonderful web site!! I had been searching the Internet for information about Stoney, Coates, and Mackintosh after having been exposed to their writings through the Refiner's Fire volumes.

For those unfamiliar with the Refiner's Fire, only two issues were published. Included in their pages are many writings by great men of God, like those listed here.

Blessings, Jason Limbaugh.

Dear Mr. Rainbow,
Let me first congratulate you on such an easy to navigate site. This was my first visit and I've no difficulty in exploring it.

Two things very much intrigue me about the content of your site and I would be very grateful if you were able to enlighten me.

  1. Firstly, there is both actual criticism and a general dismissal of what I believe you would call "denominational churches".

    • I would be interested to know if any of the writers are actually familiar with any churches apart from their own.

  2. Secondly, there is a general strong condemnation of not only "clericalism" (which has a very specific meaning), but also the whole idea of such things as "minister" or "pastors."

    • This is all very well but throughout the site quotations are made from men you appear to describe as "servants" ("minister" by another name?) mainly only by initial.

    • This suggests they are sufficiently well known to most people that names are unneccessary. Indeed, your very opening page starts with a quotation from "JT" in advance of the use of scripture.

    • There is scarcely a thought put forward without a quotation from one of a very few names. This seems very much to me that you have your own ministers/pastors/clergymen.

Yours sincerely, John Weightman.

Dear Gordon Rainbow,
Thank you very much for your effort you put into this site. It is for me by far the most beneficial website I have ever come across.

Please excuse my bad English, but I am from Germany, living now for a few years in South Africa.

Originally I am from an evangelical Lutheran background and was converted at a very early age, but was for a long time preoccupied with worldly matters.

While reading parts of your site, I was challenged again.

Presently we are connected with the "Open Brethren" but increasingly notice the worldy spirit of that circle.

I benefited greatly by the writings of CAC, CHM and JND. Do you know whether their writings are available in German?

As mentioned earlier, my dear wife is from an exclusive background. Their meetings are usually called by others "Alte Versammlung" (Old Assembly). Are those the "Lowe-Continental"-Brethren?

I hope I did not cause you any inconvenience.

Your brother in Christ, Tobias M. Wagner.

Dear brethren,
Greetings in the Blessed Name of our Lord Jesus Christ!

I have occasionally visited the web site and found it very interesting.

It was brought to my attention via a video series by Anthony R. Epperson of Arizona, USA, on The New World Order, that he stated that Sir Robert Anderson of Scotland Yard fame was a Mason.

Desiring to clear our brother's name, Bob Johnson.

My wife had an old copy of "The Little Flock" hymn book laying on the kitchen table, and last night I thought I would see if I could find anything on the computer. Thus I found your Web page.

I am one of "the simple and unlearned reader" that Mr. Darby desired to reach when doing his translation.

While attending a "brother's meeting" some forty years ago I felt compelled to leave the fellowship. But it has been from glory to glory ever since; though I've been walking alone with God. In the cupboard bare in the desert dry, on the ocean deep, and on the mountain top. I am at peace with God. 2nd Timothy 2: 19-23.

Through the labors of Robert Young I have a greater appreciation of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ and what was accomplished. "Behold the Lamb of God,who takes away the sin of the world" JND.

In the guest book I found names that brought back good and bad memories: Bunning, McKillup, Wyman.

Dear Gordon Rainbow,
What a fascinating site! It is really interesting to read, plus I've found a couple of family connections.

I was brought up in Bristol in the Exclusive brethren until my family left in 1970.

Anyway, thanks for a very informative site.

Best wishes to you and your wife, Hannah Hutton.
